Dear Parents,
Welcome back! We are so happy to have our Koalas back in class. The children showed a lot of excitement to be back in the classroom and see their friends. We are so proud of them as they have done a great job jumping right back into their routine after two weeks of vacation.
This week we started the new trimesterwith a review of what we have learned in Trimester 1 while incorporating new self-help skills such as unpacking and packing their belongings, dressings and undressing, and retrieving snacks/lunches.
Next week, we will introduce a new question into circle time: ‘¿Qué hiciste ayer?’ (What did you do yesterday). The purpose of this is to help the children activate their vocabulary and begin bringing thoughtsand ideas from home into the classroom. We ask that you please review this with your child by asking the same question at home and helping him or her come up with a response to share in class.
Letras: A, E, I, O, U
Figuras: CÍRCULO, CUADRADO, TRIÁNGULO, RECTÁNGULO, ÓVALO
Números: 1,2,3,4,5,6
Colores: ROJO, AMARILLO, VERDE, AZUL, NARANJA, ROSA
As you may have seen from the color of their uniforms and hair, the Koalas had tons of fun finger painting this week! They reviewed their colors by exploring the texture of tempura paint with their hands; painting individual pictures and also painting as a group.
To review math, the children searched for bear figurines in shaving cream. They counted the bears as they retrieved them from the cream and sorted them by color.
The Koalas also exercised their math skills by incorporating some physical activity through bowling with numbers.
We ask that you please review these concepts with your child by asking him or her how to respond ‘en español’.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Señorita Chris y Señorita Gabby
