Happy New Year and welcome back! I hope everyone had a great holiday! This week we introduced the new season of INVIERNO (winter) and discussed items that we wear when it’s cold to keep warm: GORRO (hat), GUANTES (gloves), MANOPLAS (mittens), BUFANDA (scarf), ABRIGO (coat) and BOTAS (boots).
Today we learned and celebrated Los Reyes Magos (The Three Kings). We listened to the song Ya vienen los reyes magos and when we were playing in the gym, the Three Kings stopped by our class to leave us little gifts for being so good this year! Afterwards we painted the Three Kings, Balthazar, Gaspar and Melchior and decorated our own crowns using the shapes we spoke about before vacation.
Happy New Year! We are very happy to be back and the children were happy to talk to their friends about their vacation.
This week we jumped back into the routine and we decorated our class room.
In science we did an experiment with snow by seeing how it is produced and its characteristics.
We were also able to review both the mathematical and language concepts that we learned before the break.

We had lots of open paper to color, draw and scribble things we love to do in the winter time. Señorita Carrol dressed up in winter clothes as we all identified some winter items we wear. In addition to learning about these items, we did a one to one correspondence game with mittens. We as identified the numbers 1-5, we took turns placing the correct amount of stickers on the mitten.
The Abejas class started off the New Year learning about the winter. The vocabulary this week was: cold, snow, hat, gloves and snowman. The children shared stories about their vacation and experiences in the winter. We played and practiced mathematics by making gloves. For this activity each student was given a different color glove and had to find its pair. We also counted from 1 to 5 with our gloves. We counted cereal and we recognized different numbers. To continue with our winter theme, the students decorated winter hats by decorating them with sponge page and made a snowman and dressed him with buttons.
This week we celebrated Jackson’s 3rd birthday and he shared a delicious chocolate cake with us, and we read the book “Percy se enoja” by Stuart Murphy. It is an excellent book to work the emotion of the anger and how to manage anger.
